I've been trying to eat super healthy. I have to admit that living with a guy whose three major food groups are Rally's, Popeye's and Totino's Party Pizzas hasn't been that great of an influence on me. If I'm tired and don't want to fix anything (which is a lot of the time), I'll just be like... fine, throw me a slice of that party pizza (or rather, rubbery cheese and some sausage-like meat product on a cardboard-esque crust).
Well no more. Most of the reason why I don't feel like cooking is because I have no energy when I get home from work... then eat something that has no nutritional value and go to sleep. Rinse repeat over and over again until you feel like total shit.
So I'm back on the health wagon. After a week or so of going back to my green smoothies and eating vegetables I've been feeling so much better. It's crazy how much energy you get just from eating real food. It builds a momentum. One day you're eating a spinach salad and putting some bee pollen in your smoothie... and then you're going on walks every day... and that builds up to some serious awesome vibes. You just feel better. Inside and out. Your skin is brighter... you don't look in the mirror and think, wow! I could be an extra on the Walking Dead.
But sometimes you do need something easy. Sometimes you just need to pop something in the microwave or a toaster. And I still want this stuff to be healthy. A lot of the time "healthy" easy stuff is ridiculously expensive. I got this box at Whole Foods.

Those things are yummy yum yum. There's only four in there however, which kinda sucks... but it's still alright. I'll still buy them again. They get nice and crispy in the toaster... I had to toast mine twice though for it to be perfect. It's the same kind of sauce that they have with their pizzas and little pizza rolls... nice and sweet and flavorful.
I usually love Amy's stuff. Everything usually tastes awesome... much better than Lean Cuisines... but they do get kinda pricey. The Walmart nearby sells a couple of Amy's products but not many. I decided to go to Whole Foods to see if they might be cheaper there... and they were not. At all. The same stuff at Walmart was embarrassingly more expensive at Whole Foods. But they do have a much much bigger selection. So there's that.
When can Trader Joe's come to New Orleans? Sigh...
I however am excited about the new Co-Op coming to town! Maybe I won't have to deal with either Whole Foods or Walmart anymore (New Orleans is sadly lacking in grocery stores)... or hopefully, on a smaller scale anyways.
